AiFactory Challenge ~ Flowers In Bloom ~

This weeks challenge at AiFactory was using some wonderful baby bug clipart and adding flowers to our cards. Using clipart on cards and projects is so easy, just print and cut. Fabulous! I printed out the images then hand cut the baby bug and punched out the little bugs using my Stampin' Up! Boho Blossoms Punch. I used quilling paper to attach the little bugs to the flower.

Easy Paper Flower Tutorial

I had made this card for the design team I'm on and wanted to share a tutorial for the flower I made per your request! Thank you for all the wonderful comments on my other post with the card. It's so easy!

I've seen many of these flowers made using a brad in the middle to hold it together. I wanted to do something different with ribbon so here's what I came up with:

You will need some old dictionary pages or pages from an old book. I use pages from a huge dictionary I bought at a thrift store. It has the thinner, lighter pages than an ordinary book. I like the weight of those pages because they are easier to crimp and crinkle. You also need some ribbon, a stapler and a scallop punch.

Punch out six scallop circles.

Stack your scallops together and lay your ribbon across them in the middle. Staple the ribbon to the scallops.

Tie a knot in the ribbon, the staple holds it in place.

Trim the edges of your ribbon.

Crinkle and fluff up each scallop until it's as fluffy as you like.
Enjoy!

AiFactory Challenge ~Things With Wings~

This weeks challenge at AiFactory we got to use some cute owl images from the party printables line. Our theme was to use wings. Seeing as how the images were owls I had a hard time trying to figure out how to incorporate wings on the owls that already had wings. WOW, that made no sense!

I printed out the owls, punched them out and then grabbed my MS butterfly punch. I punched out the butterflies and folded them in half and added them as the wings on the owls. Oh my, here's my card and you can see what I mean:

It's that time again for the Smeared & Smudged member blog hop and this weeks AiFactory Challenge!
For the blog hop we we had a challenge to use the colors of green and brown. Not usually a color combo I would choose, I guess that's why it's a challenge :) I'll be doing a tutorial on the flower soon! At AiFactory the design team is using a beautiful digital image from the AiFactory store. She started out black and white and I digitally changed her to the colors I wanted. That's what is so great about digi's, you can do what you want!

AiFactory Design Team First Challenge

I am so excited to be on the AiFactory design team! Our first challenge was posted today. Our theme for the challenge is a "drop in the bucket". We had to create a card with a water theme using the AiFactory digital stamp Ella Under The Sea. Ella does a lot of things and this time she is a mermaid!

I colored Ella digitally using a digital editing software. Coloring digital images this way is fantastic and easy. If you are using a small image as I did the coloring is much easier on the little portions of the image. Larger images I still color with Copic Markers. I added a little bit of quilling as my water theme. Here's my card:

So now it's your turn to drop your name and your card in the bucket! Create something with a water theme or water on it, but spilling your water on your card doesn't count LOL

Quilled Palm Tree Cards

For my upcoming Stampin' Up! card swap our theme was tropical. I decided to create tropical cards with quilled palm trees. I didn't realize the amount of time it would take to create them because I had to quill 63 palm fronds! I think they came out great though. It was fun and I hope the ladies at the swap enjoy them. Lisa created this event in 2007. The original idea behind this giveaway event was to bring bloggers together from around the world who may never ordinarily meet. It closes the gap of the blog community and enables us to interact, discover new and wonderful people, and in the process possibly win a prize or many prizes along the way. 2007 had roughly 85-90 participants and many connections were made because of it......friendships that are still going strong.

There was a strong showing the first year for sure, and then in 2008 had just about tripled that number. In 2009 there were 911 participants and 28 countries were represented in the 2009 event as well.
This is more than wanting to win something.......that is only the means.......in the end it's about finding kindred spirits. Someone who may be fairly new to blogging, not sure how to navigate, find others and have others find them....Some are long time bloggers and in some cases well known in the blogging community. Whatever the case it brings all of them together.

This is an INTERNATIONAL event that has and had participants from the US, Canada, France, Sweden, Germany, Finland, Malaysia, Brazil, The Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Scotland, Ireland, England,Wales, Slovenia and more. It transcends geographical location, socio economics, political affiliation, religious beliefs......it's a coming together like the giant community we are on this planet. If only it took a simple giveaway to create PEACE everywhere, in the mean time here we give from our hearts. We are not solving the worlds problems nor are we curing anything nor are we changing the world. We are merely generating a closer community between humans through blogging.

This is the 5th and final year of OWOH so thank you Lisa for another great event for the chance to meet new people and gain new friends.

February 2011 Artist Of The Month

Here I am late again on posting my artist of the month, but I didn't forget all together. My mind is still in tact for the time being! I wanted to showcase Annie. Her quilling is just amazing. She's one of the most creative quillers I know. Her pictures on Flickr of all her quilling work are fascinating to look at. Go see them by clicking here. "I am a multi hobbie craft person. I love to experiment with paper but Quilling and Mirror Art is my favourite.I am a housewife who spend all my free time on creating something beautiful with a minimum cost as possible. I try not to copy anything from others but learn and experiment my own methods. These are all easy craft which needs patience clear mind and a bit of talent too. It gives a lot of satisfaction, peace of mind and happiness. It is in a way a meditation too. My talent for handcraft was from my very young days. There is no limit to my experiments on various handwork. you name it I try it"

"I did not know what quilling was, till I accidentally got this little magazine with a picture of a quilled rat, while I was looking for books on art and craft in a book store. I just took a glimps at it and put it away.I love experimenting new handcrafts and I never throw junk without thinking twice how I could make use of it. When I ran out of ideas and was wondering what next, the thought of this little rat flashed back at me. I did not know how it was done cause I did not bother looking at it. But I knew it was with strips of paper. Looking back now I am so happy I did not look at it cause that is what inspired me to quill the way I do. The professional quillers will note that my method is different.I twisted paper in all ways till I was satisfied with it."THE LADY IN THE GARDEN" is my very first quilled picture.I started quilling about three years back. I had no knowledge of how to work on a computor too, till my husband got me a Laptop one year ago. I just Googled, to learn everything I did not know. Now my Laptop is my best friend that connects me to the world

I do not have a single tool for quilling that I bought. I make them.If you are a person who like quilling, and have no tools or strips, just follow the method I used. All strips in my pictures are made with 1/8" of strips cut out of A4 coloured paper. They are so cheep. Sometimes the darker shades are bit expensive.You can use a toothpick by making a small slit at the pointed end and use it to quill or get a ribbon embroidery needle and chip the tip of the eye so it would look like a needle split in two. Get an old felt pen (the pens that kids use for colouring, in case you do not know) cut of the felt point and insert the pointed side of your needle into it. You have a perfect quilling needle and that is what I use. And for the basic just go to "you tube" and look for "basic quilling". There are plenty of tutorials by experience quillers. You too could be an expert in no time. But a little bit of advice, try not to do what others have done. Learn from them but try out your own pictures. It is only then that you get satisfaction and happiness of what you do."

Smeared & Smudged Blog Hop

It's that time again! Time for the Smeared and Smudged member blog hop.

Well since it's the New Year, our project was to include something NEW!!

That just means that we are trying something we have never done before, or use a stamp we haven't used before or use a color we've never used.

I bought a new, old dictionary just to use for paper crafting. This is my first creation using it. I quilled the flowers, added a clear bead in the middle and misted them with red glimmer mist. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with them yet but I had fun making them!

Annoucning the FIFTH and FINAL One World One Heart

One World One Heart is a worldwide event for bloggers only. It gives all those who blog a chance to meet and mingle and form connections with those they may not have otherwise met from all over the world. Wow, I've been gone for awhile. Hopefully my time away has given me new ideas. Wishing all of you a happy new year. Since I have been away I missed posting my December artist of the month so Sunspiral Autumn gets to be my December and January Artist! Her work is amazing using upcycled fabric to create warm coats.

"I've always loved to create, whether it be sewing, gardening, sketching, baking or pottery, there is something very magical about the creative process. Where once before there was a scrap of material, a mass of dirt and weeds, a blank canvas, a pile of unpalatable ingredients, or a lump of clay, there is now something beautiful to enjoy, to gaze at, to use.
I recently discovered the creative potential in jewelry. I use a wide variety of materials, from recycled vintage pieces to beautiful new stones and beads. Every item is a one of a kind, handmade piece.
Every now and again, I come across a piece that is in beautiful vintage condition and is just too wonderful to alter. These pieces can be rediscovered on their own or incorporated into a handmade original.
I've named this new hobby of mine in memory of my Mother who had a passion for jewelry. From large costume pieces to smaller fine pieces, and many pieces she created on her own, she wore it all, no matter what the occasion.
The jewelry you see here is meant to be enjoyed and worn whether you are going to a wedding or going to enjoy a coffee and a good book.

Here's a little bit about Lidia from her bio on her Etsy store.

"I am a native of Sydney, Australia, and it was here that I began my formal education in art. In my second year of college I moved to the United States and received my B.F.A. from B.G.S.U. in Ohio. I spent the next 10 years as art director in the field of television. Recognizing the stresses of the advertising world, I took the opportunity to find other forms of artistic expression. My love of glass was born and I allowed this creative energy to guide me. What evolved were works of art that integrated into our more common understanding of functional living.
My larger body of work is represented by some of the finest art galleries in the nation.
I had the privilege to exhibit with the world renowned artist, Dale Chihuly and also completed a restoration of 18 stained glass windows at a chapel in Ohio."

Twilight Paper Bag Album

I finally finished the Twilight Paper Bag Album. You can purchase it from me at my Etsy Store.

This scrapbook measures approximately 6x6 and has 10 Pages along with 3 double sided inserts. That makes 16 pages! I left room on some pages for you to place tickets, photos or journaling of your own.

I had a blast creating this scrapbook because I'm the biggest Twilight fan (no really, I am)! The photo collage has pictures of all the pages.

There is one "interactive" page too. It's the one that has the little square that says "Do I Dazzle You?". Since Edward is so sparkly I wanted something that would have sparkles on him. So shake it and he sparkles with the glitter in the shaker box!

AiFactory Challenge 43 ~ Green With Envy

This week at the AiFactory challenge we would were challenged to make something green.

Not green in color, but to create a card or project showing how you can recycle, upcycle or reuse something.

Our design team got to play with Mia's collection of summer fun digital stamps!

I created a pool party invitation digitally as to cut down on the use of paper elements and such and then used bubble wrap as my "water" on my invitation.

The digital stamps we used were too cute!

This month I wanted to showcase Anja! She designs digital embroidery images and she has illustrated numerous books. Read her biography below:

"Ever since I was a little girl growing up in lovely northern Germany I've had a passion for painting and crafts. I have followed my childhood dreams to become a certified goldsmith and to receive a degree in arts and design. For the past 20 years, I have been doing what I love most - working as an illustrator. I have illustrated lots of books – many of which have been published in different languages and turned into animated cartoons for TV.

Together with my friend Sonja, I have taken my passion a step further – since 2009, my designs are available as digital images for machine embroidery, hand stitching patterns, ribbons and fabrics. You can find all these designs here on my website: Anja Rieger Design

Not only am I coming up with the designs, I also digitize to maintain the vitality of my drawings. I have taught myself the technique of digitizing - in endless days and nights and a long series of trials and errors and almost never ending test stitchings. While drawing, I already think about how I can turn the illustration in a proper digital image. That way I can ensure the vitality of my sketches and drawings will survive in my embroidery designs.

When Crafting Goes Bad -- An Interview With April Winchell of Regretsy.com

I just had to share this article with you, it's things that I can relate to, how about you?

We've all gotten one -- a homemade craft project made with love but not necessarily talent -- a poorly crocheted pillow, a wonky DIY scarf, or a just plain ugly hand-knit hat. For those heartfelt handmade disasters, there's hilarious blog Regretsy, a collection of some of the strangest and saddest crafts offered for sale on DIY craft site Etsy. We spoke with Regretsy founder April Winchell about her blog, the new Regretsy book, and what makes a bad craft project so good.
Why did you start the blog?
I have a real appetite for the strange. I always have. Things that are not conventionally beautiful, things that are imperfect, things that are just miss the mark in some way. The only caveat is that they have to done with complete sincerity. If something is self-aware, it doesn't appeal to me as much.
When I discovered Etsy in 2007, it was like a dream come true. Sure, there were thousands of beautiful handmade pieces there, but that wasn't what got me excited. What got me was the stuff in the margins, the stuff you'd never see if you weren't looking for it. And every time I unearthed some bizarre treasure, I'd send the link to like-minded friends, and they would reciprocate in kind. It became a bit of a game, to see who could find the most perverse, disturbing, shoddy or otherwise entertaining craft.
What do you think drives people to make such incredibly odd objects?
Well, I think we're talking about two different types of people. You have people who are aware that they're making weird things, and clearly, they're doing so for the purpose of shocking or amusing people. There's nothing wrong with that. Some people are very good at it.
The second type is the one that really engages me - the person that has no idea they're creating anything odd. They're just driven to create, and this is the way they express themselves.
What is your all-time favorite Regretsy item?
I really love the guy who painstakingly models realistic clay heads of celebrities and attaches them to wind-up toys (I bought one of those myself). I also love the catnip fetus toy, and the fish squirrel taxidermy. And I'm completely enamored with the embroidered toilet paper done by HiBird. I had never, ever seen such a thing before Regretsy, and I've become so fond of it (and her) that I have commissioned specially designed Regretsy toilet paper. She's also working on embroidered maxi-pads to be used as bookmarks for the Regretsy book.
Tell us about the Regretsy book.
I tried to share some personal things that I thought might bring perspective to it, like my own shameful history as a failed crafter. I'm also proud of my extensive deconstruction of the types or fairy themed crafts made by grown woman who still pretend that sprites live among us.
The book does have a selection of Regretsy featured items, broken down by category. Some of them have been on the site, and some of them are new. But that's a smaller part of the book than you might think.
I also write about criticism, freedom of expression and the importance of creating your art, even when people don't seem to appreciate or understand you. And I try to do it with humor and affection, because I've been there. And in some ways, I'm still there now.
Have you ever had an altercation or run-in with a peeved Etsy seller?
Oh, one or two. But there are very few circumstances where I won't take a piece down, so usually just asking me will solve the problem.
Surprisingly, the most vocal and unrelentingly nasty sellers are the ones who have never been featured. The stuff they make is just not that interesting, and I think it probably annoys them on some level to see "bad" work getting featured.
But the truth is, there is no limelight for people who play it safe. Esty promotes a specific aesthetic on one end of the spectrum, and I promote the other.

This weeks challenge at AiFactory was to create a card or project that had movement, for instance a shaker card, spinner card etc. I decided I would make a hanging birthday mobile. My Nephew's Birthday is coming up and I've been making things for him for the past couple of months it seems. Here's my project using the Sizzix Spiral die and the great clip art from the AiFactory Store.

It's nice to use clipart sometimes because you just print and cut, no coloring!

I received an email yesterday from Margaret Nowak Dobos. In her email she had included a link to her website called My Sister's Art. Being the person that I am I jumped right over to her website and what I found was just amazing! Margaret is the Sister to Kathleen Nowak Tucci. Kathleen is the artist of all the amazing jewelry on the site. While Kathleen is busy creating her wonderful jewelry her Sister Margaret has created their website to feature all of her great works.

The retail markets that sell Kathleen's jewelry is extensive. You can find out where to buy some of her jewelry on their website. I just had to share this with you as it is just so amazing to me. AiFactory Challenge 37 It's Hip To Be Square!

This weeks challenge at AiFactory was to create a card or project just using squares. No round flowers or buttons allowed. It's kind of hard to come up with something when you are used to using whatever you like. It's nice to think outside the box. Get it, a box is square......oh never mind :)

So I made an easel card where my both of my patterned paper have squares on it. I also used two square paper clips to hold it all together. AiFactory Challenge 33 Anything But A Card

This weeks challenge at AiFactory was to make anything but a card. Ok, so I'm still trying to come up with little things to make for my Nephews upcoming Birthday. I was punching out all of the cupcakes still not knowing what I was going to make when I thought........hmmmmm I wonder if they are all different. Well, they are and then I thought it would be fun to play memory with them. So I printed out 2 sets and put them in a little box. I think it will be fun for the kids to do at his party.

April 2010 Artist Of The Month

I wanted to introduce Shelly as my artist of the month.

She does wonderful quilling work as well as making other crafts too.

"I've been crafting since I was a young girl, starting with crochet and basic embroidery and moving into sewing, cross-stitch and eventually scrapbooking. The projects became more complicated as I aged of course, but crafting has always been a personal creative outlet for me. Recently I have been afforded the chance to share my passion for creating and hope to be able to have others benefit from my personal outlook on life."

AiFactory Challenge 29 Lacey Easel Card

For this weeks challenge over at AiFactory, our instructions were to use lace and make an easel card. Well, can you believe in this big room of crafty stuff I have no lace! So I opted for a lace punch instead. I know, I cheated. I hadn't made an easel card either so it was a new venture.

We got to use ballerina Ella, I love the Ella digi line. For her tutu I printed out two digi's and colored them both. I cut out one of the tutu's and placed some tule underneath so that it makes it look more like a tutu, at least I tried for that effect. Here's my card for the challenge:

Scrappy Sunday Challenge On PCP Digi Quilling!

I do mostly quilling as my paper craft and I found a company that had a few digi quilled items! I bought them and had to use them and try them out. The egg is a quilled egg that I made but the rest is digital!

Every Sunday there is a new sketch for a scrapbook page. Since I am trying to go digital on my scrapbook pages this is a great place to practice. Give the group a visit, your creations don't have to be digital.

The anniversary of my Dad's passing was a few weeks ago so I thought I would do something in memory of him.

Making A Scene With AiFactory Challenge #28 & A Freebie!

In this weeks challenge at AiFactory we used a cute little pirate and we had to make a "scene" with him. Our challenge also included using no bows and making it a sort of masculine card. I had a hard time with this one as I think it's harder to make masculine cards then "frilly" cards. I did a stair step card with fabric for the sand and added some "jewels" to his treasure chest. The shells I had sitting there forever so I'm glad I got to use them. I put glossy accents on his sword to make it shiny but you can't see that in the photo.
When you enter you get a free Ivan the pirate stamp too!

Joan's recycled quilling project

I wanted to just give a quick post about Joan who does amazing quilling work. She quilled a boquet of flowers using recycled paper and a rescued frame. Here's what she says:

"Yes, This picture is totally done with recycled paper and a rescued frame.

The flowers have the look of straw flowers. They are made from recycled magazine pages and scraps of paper from previous projects. The colors are shades of yellows, browns and purple. I love the look and color of the magazine flowers. The background is handmade paper with flecks of flowers and such mixed in. There is a cute purple butterfly made with a paper magazine bead body.

As for the frame, my neighbor was cleaning out her basement and was throwing out some frames, so I rescued them, cleaned them up and as for this one, I stained it. (It comes with a glass front)

The frame is 7 13/16" x 5 13/16.

Cute little picture for the kitchen or bath or any little corner you want to add some color to."

Quilling Dies

I've wanted to tell all of you this for sometime now...........So can you believe a company is coming out with quilling dies you can use with your Big Shot or Cuttlebug? It's about time someone made something to get crafters in the mood to quill! Watch the video and see:

Smeared & Smudged First Ever Blog Hop

To celebrate the wonderful growth of the community, Smeared and Smudged is hosting it's first ever member blog hop! All of the members create such wonderful art, we'd like to share it with everyone we know (and even those we don't know!) by featuring us in a blog hop on Thursday, March 4! That's today!

Smeared Ink is a bit different than your "regular" stamp companies.
The image up there ^^ will get you to their store.
There are no flowers or cute little bows.
It's a great new twist and is making me think outside of my flower box!
Here's my card for the hop! I used an image from The Vintage Moth, a stamp from Stampin' Up!, and DP from Creative Imaginations Creative Warehouse. I wrapped the card front in black tule and a black ribbon, stamped the sentiment on a piece of card stock that I sprayed with black glimmer mist and tada! My card!

AiFactory Challenge # 26! Blue, Bows and Bling!

Wow! We are already in March, where does the time go? This weeks challenge over at AiFactory we got to use the wonderful digi stamp "Trinity". She's beautiful! Our challenge was to use the color blue, have a bow on it and add some bling.

This week I decided to try to color my digi stamp digitally. I think I did a so so job considering it was my first time. I added some highlights to her hair, at least that's what they look like to me, it could just be a bad dye job! I cut her out and found a cute little blue corset over on The Vintage Moth. I cut a slit in the top of the corset and slipped her in, I know, her head is big, maybe she is a side show digi :) Ok, I'll be quiet and just show you my card......

AiFactory Challenge # 25 Recipe Cards

In this weeks AiFactory challenge we were given recipe cards to work with. I thought oh geez, I hate to cook! So I had to figure out the next best thing.....Food Network! I do cook some but not by choice, it's by survival and my waistline tells me so! So on to the challenge and not my weight issues :)

The recipe cards are awesome! They are cute and fun and easy to print and cut. You can find them at the AiFactory store. I copied the image to a Word Doc and then placed the text onto the card and ta da a recipe! Since I had picked my favorite (ok, the Food Network favorites) picnic recipe's I thought I would put them in a little straw cardstock to keep them handy. I actually might try them, they sound easy and delicious! Here is my creation:

It's not quilting, it's quilling! That's the first thing Monica Bergeron has had to tell many people who've never heard of her craft. She says she even has to spell it out to these poor souls, but she is quite amused by their troubled expressions and enjoys explaining to folks that quilling has nothing to do with fabric, needles or thread but instead is an art performed with strips of paper that are rolled into coils, glued, and then formed into shapes.

Many things amuse Monica Bergeron, and this joy carries forward into her art, her teachings, and her websites. Monica, from what I can see, is one of the nation's premier quillers. She modestly described winning a recent competition sponsored by Lark Books - a leader in craft publishing - for a quilled card she created. However, her focus doesn't appear to be on competitions. Instead, she likes to use her talents to encourage and teach others and to create new and unusual items.

Monica first began quilling at the age of seven when her mother gave her a kit to make a quilled owl. Monica took to that owl as a duck takes to water.

"I think my Mother thought it would take me quite awhile to finish the project as she was unfamiliar with quilling. Well it is a time consuming craft but that didn't keep me from taking my time. You couldn't find quilling paper then, you had to buy kits. So I would cut strips of paper and make my own creations. I would use magazines, construction paper and any other paper I could get my hands on. I was hooked on quilling from that day I received that owl kit until today."

Most quillers use their art for scrap booking or card making. However, Monica doesn't limit herself to scrap books or cards. She makes quilled earrings and pendants as well as quilled covered boxes. Quilled eggs are her favorite. "The possibilities on where you can use or place your quilling are endless," Monica states.

Monica teaches quilling classes and maintains four blogs. She started the blogs to provide tutorials to introduce people to quilling and other paper crafts. She has both printable and video tutorials.

What with maintaining the blogs and teaching the classes, how does she get any quilling done? It seems so meticulous! "I roll my coils while I'm watching TV and I have a plastic storage container that has compartments where I store all of my rolled coils. That way they are all ready when I'm ready to create a project. If I'm on the phone I'm rolling coils too, it's just a part of what I do almost daily." She could probably roll coils in her sleep at this point!

I asked Monica what she would say to someone who wanted to start quilling. "I would tell anyone who wants to start quilling to go in in with an open mind and to not get frustrated. It does take practice but if you look at the end result its well worth it," Monica replied.

Looking at her lovely work, I would have to agree, the end result is clearly worth it!

Scrappy Sunday

This week on Paper Craft Planet's Scrappy Sunday challenge, we had this sketch to use for our scrap layout:

I love making cards but scrapbooking digitally has become such a great thing for me! I just purchased a color laser printer so that I can print right at home and not have to send away for things. It was a big investment but seeing as how I have about 15 years of things to scrap it will save me money in the long run. Anyway....here's what I came up with. I used Stampin' Up! My Digital Studio. I love it! I got it from my demonstrator Anne, she's awesome and always answers anything I have questions about. Thanks Anne!

My dog Guido is having his 5th birthday soon and since I don't have "real" kids, my dogs are the next best thing. Happy birthday Guido!

AiFactory Challenge 24 Make a 3D project or card

Softpencil Challenge #19

For this weeks challenge over at Softpencil on PCP (oh that's paper craft planet) we had to make a "spring" card. I know spring is coming, but it's a "spring" card, not a spring card. Get it?

Here's my card using a Softpencil digi that I won from the last challenge. Yay! And by the way, your card comes out like crap if you don't cut the corners right. Talk about ruler challenged. I think I need glasses :) And yes I'm still coloring like a 3 year old with my new Copics! And another thing.....if your card stock isn't heavy enough it's a flop card, not a spring card (Shhhhh it happened to me)! I just had some issues making this card. But Ta Da! Here it is!

AiFactory Challenge #23 Hearts Hearts Hearts

I first wanted to say how happy I am that I was chosen to be on the design team for AiFactory. Yay! There's a lot in store for everyone. We just concluded our blog hop where someone won a gift certificate to the AiFactory store and the challenges every Thursday are so much fun.

So on to this weeks challenge. We are using a digital stamp by Softpencil and she calls it, or them I should say, "A Lovely Couple". They are too cute! I bought my first set of Copic markers and I had a blast coloring with them, I think it's going to be a new addiction. I hope my coloring gets better though. Practice practice practice. Our challenge was to use hearts in our cards. So here's my card for the challenge:

A Lovely Couple is a digital stamp designed by Softpencil. The papers are by Scrap-Ease, The Paper Company & My Minds Eye. The coloring is done with Copics. And the ribbon I've had for 2 years is finally put to use!

My card is created using the cute and lovely Ella on cloud 9. Ella was created at AiFactory where you can find digital stamps, digital resources and illustrations. It's a great place for anything digital!

I used a top note die in my big shot and then turned the cut piece around and cut again to get the octagon looking shape that Ella is sitting in. She's colored with Prisma colored pencils and some Stampin' write markers.

Scrapbooking & Crafting Friends

Our challenge this week was to use red, green & purple and to also incorporate hearts. Well, it's almost Valentine's day so here's my card. I did use green a little, it's the coloring on the turtle. I had a heck of a time on the shaker as I ended up having my turtle off center. I enjoy quilling very much and I have taught a few classes about it. I recently made a video of pictures from one of my classes on quilling chocolates. The video also has instructions on how to quill chocolates or you can download them from my site here.

My New Look

I wanted a blog that was a 3 column blog and also I wanted to pick my own design for it. I finally found Diana who did a wonderful job on creating my new site. I also did away with the blogspot.com and bought the domain name so that I could just be giddygreetings.com. It's such an easier way to let people know about you. I wanted to let you all know about Diana so that you can visit her and get a custom blog done. It's better than just picking a template that hundreds of other bloggers will have.
